FAQS

EMS is an emergency mitigation service. RCV is the term used to describe recoverable cash value, which is the total cost of material and labour needed to replace or repair identical materials (a.k.a. type and quality). ACV is the value of cash in actual dollars. This is the value of the repair payment that was made at the beginning, which is usually more than recoverable depreciation. D&R = detach and reset. This Xactimate entry can be used as an entry only for labour-salvageable items that must be taken away, salvaged, or removed and reset as an element of the process to repair.
Your payout will likely be based on the ACV (actual cash value) less your tax deductible. In this example, your repair payment’s RCV (recoverable cash value) is $10,000. Suppose the ACV (actual cash value) is $8500. $1500 is withheld, which is the depreciable amount you can recover. When you’ve got a $1,000 deductible, your initial insurance repair payment would be $7,500. You may also receive the $1,500 through your insurance provider, subject to certain terms.
Typically, If you can show your insurance carrier receipts for any supplies you paid for directly along with paid invoices to your contractor that add up or more than the RCV value, you would then qualify to get reimbursed the recoverable depreciation…..or…….you may be able to have the carrier release the recoverable depreciation once you have a signed contract with a contractor equal to the RCV.
Your employer would be thrilled to see you take this step since the odds are stacked in their favor if you take this direction. The same rules apply to showing receipts for payments, including the RCV’s value, to obtain the recoverable depreciation. This isn’t possible if you supply your work. In addition, the adjuster may not be able to pay for Overhead and income (O&P), which could significantly reduce the amount you receive since you’re not a contracting company with overhead or profit issues.
The collection process for the EMS part of your claim, even though it requires a lot of time and can be delayed and costly, the carriers often issue a check straight to True Restorations as a sole payee. This is appropriate because the authorization for service signed by the client lays out these particulars, and all jobs have been done. The work that is urgently required is done in this manner since the scope of the work could be clearer, and estimating the scope of work usually takes time. In addition, the extra time can cause more damage. The insurance company prefers that the emergency work start immediately to minimize damage and can be directly billed by your restoration company.
